CONTEST RULES

OVERVIEW

The Okanagan Singer-Songwriter competition is open to anyone ages 12 and older.

Each contestant will perform 2 original songs per audition night. Songs must be performed LIVE on the audition night(s). ONE artist per audition night will advance to the finals. SIX remaining wildcard slots to be selected from the remaining live performers.  Artists will be adjudicated based on their live performance in the areas of Performance (Stage Presence), Lyrics, Song Composition, and Technique (voice/instrument).

CONTEST RULES

Songs must be of original content and no longer than 4.5 minutes.

THREE copies of the song lyrics must be submitted before performing on audition nights. 

​

If there is time after all contestants have performed,

the night will resume in an Open Mic fashion.

​

Acts can include any number of musicians. Acoustic Drums are NOT permitted at audition venues - hand percussion ONLY. Backing tracks of any kind are NOT permitted. Space is limited to 10 Acts for each event audition, pre-registration is recommended.

REGISTRATION

Musicians have the option to register in two ways:

Option 1:

ONLINE Registration ($25) - Email a completed registration form (found on this website) and send an e-transfer to Jennifer.Boal@hotmail.com.

​

Option 2:

LIVE Registration ($25) - If space is available, musicians can come to any of the event audition nights, complete the registration form available on site, provide 3 copies of their song lyrics, and pay the registration fee.

CONTEST FINALS

10 artists will perform 2 original songs at the finals.

​

Up to three artists will win prizes chosen by the adjudicators. Prizes may include, but are not limited to, performance opportunities throughout the Okanagan and professional studio recording time.

​

The finals event location, date, and time will be announced at a later date.
